Although The Secret of the Swordfish is one of the earliest stories created by Edgar P. Jacobs,
it remains highly refined. Published in the Journal de Tintin between 1946 and 1949, it allowed
Jacobs' style to evolve and finally reach its definitive form.
While Blake and Mortimer are
the main characters in this story, the Swordfish is undoubtedly the hero. Its last-minute arrival to
save the world from the threat of the Yellow Empire only cements its role.
Just as Colonel
Olrik is about to claim victory, the S. X.-1, with Blake aboard, launches into the water and heads
toward the enemy fleet to secure the win. Its power is enough to defeat the Empire, which came
close to dominating the world.
This collectible wood panel is offered by Akimoff and
features the Swordfish as it dives into the sea. Printed on maple wood in a 38 x 20 cm format, the
image preserves the original colors while allowing the wood grain to show through. This product is
artisanally crafted in France.
