The Secret of the Swordfish, published in the Journal de Tintin between 1946 and 1949, is the
first adventure of Blake and Mortimer. Throughout this story, Edgar P. Jacobs' art evolves, moving
away from realism to finally achieve his definitive style.
Although Blake and Mortimer are
the main characters in this story, the Swordfish is undoubtedly the hero. Its last-minute arrival to
save the world from the threat of the Yellow Empire solidifies this role.
Just as Colonel Olrik is
about to claim victory, the S. X.-1, with Blake aboard, launches into the water. It then heads toward
the enemy fleet to snatch victory from them. Its power is enough to defeat the Empire, who nearly
dominated the world.
This collectible wood panel is offered by Akimoff and features the
Swordfish in front of the great airlock doors. Printed on maple wood in a 38 x 20 cm format, the
image preserves the original colors while allowing the wood grain to show through. This product is
artisanally crafted in France.
