On the occasion of the third edition of the scientific event "Sur les épaules des Géants" (On
the Shoulders of Giants), François Schuiten presents a new version of his muse. This print is
based on the visual design of the event's poster.
Under Schuiten's experienced hand, a
woman comes to life, her face illuminated by the light emanating from her hands. These hands
create science and illustrate knowledge, both concrete and intangible. They bring to life ever-
evolving arabesques and ideas. She is, after all, the allegory of science, reminding us that today's
scientific advances are only possible thanks to those who came before us.
To bring
majesty to this goddess, Schuiten's drawing is complemented by the coloring of Laurent Durieux.
The colorist's expertise is evident in the expressiveness of the colors used, which enhance
Schuiten's work and further amplify the presence of the allegory.
