The mythology of the Type 12 is a central theme in Schuiten's world. Entering service in 1939,
"La Douce" was designed to pull light and fast trains. That same year, it won the Blue Ribbon for
regular steam trains for its speed in connecting Brussels to Bruges.
Of the six locomotives
produced, only one was preserved and restored: the 12.004. This Type 12 frequently appears in
Schuiten's artwork.
Travel doesn't always require going far; sometimes, all it takes is

Type 12.
