Description

Pilote. A revolutionary weekly magazine that revolutionised the concept of comic
strips. Associated to legendary names such as René Goscinny, Jean-Michel Charlier or
even Albert Uderzo, this magazine also saw the birth of Astérix on the 29th of October
1959 with its first issue.

This book started with the pre-war childhood dream of
one man, François Clauteaux, and ended with Georges Dargaud's takeover in the sixties.
Artistic, legal and economic worlds combine within it and the paths of the men (very few
women were present in this story of another century) who made Pilote possible are drawn
together: François Clauteaux, Jean Hébrard, Raymond Joly, René Ribière, and many
others.

We'll not only talk of comic strips but also of the 2nd Armoured Division,
the liberation of Strasbourg, radio and television, airports, even shampoo, haute couture,
the weather, large coffees and small cars.

As they say, the rest is history. This
human adventure is also a page of history: the great post-war era with its dreams of
modernity to flee the ghosts of its past.

To better recapture the spirit of this
collective epic, no less than four passionate and complementary authors and years of
work were necessary. Mock-ups, the issue zero and the first issue are here reproduced in
full and annotated with rarely achieved precision. .

You will find a well-bound book
of 320 pages, in a 24x32 cm format. It is on a beautiful cover with selective varnish that
you will discover the photo of those who founded Pilote.
