Description

This 40 x 50 cm serigraphy features Alice Barnes wearing a magical kimono adorned with
cats. The image is from the universe of Nancy Peña's series, The Cat and the
Kimono
.

Among the black and white drawings of the albums, the color red
regularly appears throughout the pages. It serves to contrast the more realistic elements with the
magical nature of the world being described. Indeed, the cats on the kimono frequently come to
life, moving up and down the surface of the fabric or exploring the world around them. Here, we
see the character Alice Barnes, surrounded by the cats that inhabit her kimono, stained red with
the blood of the first person who wore it.

The serigraphy is signed and numbered in an
edition of 66 copies. The two-color print on Fedrigoni Freelife Vellum natural white 320g paper
captures the duality of colors in the The Cat and the Kimono albums.
