Kenneth Roberts' book, Le roman de Criss Kenton, serves as Hugo Pratt's starting
point to create the series Fort Wheeling in two volumes. As one of Pratt's early
albums, it is possible to begin to discern the writing and drawing style that would later bring
success to Corto Maltese.
This image is from the second album of Fort
Wheeling, "Deuxième époque." In watercolor, various characters come to life: an Indian and
soldiers. Despite the almost peaceful atmosphere that emanates from this art print, the period in
which the two albums are set, the War of Independence, is undoubtedly bloody.
This art
print, in a 50 x 40 cm format, is offered by Christian Colin Editions and is limited to 300 unsigned
copies. The print is made on Innova 210g art paper and comes with a numbered certificate of
authenticity. You will also find an embossed stamp in the white margin and the publisher's stamps
